Karen Tickner, MFS, PMA-CPT

The daughter of a P.E. teacher and the creation of a very physically active home life, she first discovered Pilates as a youth while competing as a synchronized swimmer. After swimming, Karen pursued a career in health and fitness by attaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Wellness Leadership/Exercise Science from the University of South Florida. She then followed her degree with further studies by becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Wellness Coach, Medical Fitness Specialist and a comprehensively certified Pilates Instructor She also holds a certification as a Yoga and GYROTONIC® Level I Instructor. Since completing her formal education, Karen has piloted a Pilates program at a local hospital-based wellness center, and created her specialty of working with clients with special needs. She has also taught and tutored apprentice Pilates instructors locally and overseas. Karen currently is a Master Trainer for the Pilates Academy International (Pilates on Fifth NYC), teaching Pilates Teacher training programming to aspiring Pilates professionals. Karen is the creator of SUPilates, a program that helps Pilates teachers bring Pilates to the Stand Up Paddleboard.

Karen’s expertise and experience of over 15 years in the industry has allowed her to teach a variety of clients. Her clients have included professional athletes and dancers, those with orthopedic issues, those with serious illnesses, and those looking for a great, body-changing workout. Karen’s philosophy is to determine your needs to help align, strengthen, and support your body, utilizing a truly holistic approach to fitness. She has the ability to cater your Pilates experience to your specific health and fitness goals.

Jill Lynch, PTA, CPT

Jill Lynch is a Florida native, growing up locally in Clearwater. She was always an active individual involved in many activities such as gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, and soccer from an early age.

Jill graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1995 with a Bachelors Degree in Health and Behavioral Sciences. She then completed the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Seminole Community College in Sanford, Florida. Her physical therapy career started in the outpatient orthopedic setting immediately after licensure and has continued in this area since. It was while working with varied patient conditions that she discovered Pilates. Jill became a Certified Pilates Instructor through the PhysicalMind Institute in New York, specializing in Mat and Equipment training, including Advanced and Standing Pilates. She received this comprehensive certification in 2006. Immediately taken in by the challenge and the results, Jill began to incorporate the Pilates method into her therapy treatments. This not only seemed like a natural transition, but it also brought about patient satisfaction and peaked interest in something different. Jill is also a certified Personal Trainer National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Outside of her work, Jill still enjoys playing soccer, spending time at the beach, and enjoying life with her husband and two kids.

Karen Burgue

Karen was born in the Chicago/Milwaukee area, and moved to Florida in 1977. She currently lives in Palm Harbor with her husband of over 30 years, Rudy.

Karen is a lifelong fitness aficianado, liking running, weight lifting, and aerobics. But, as she approached 50 years old, she decided to find a new fitness routine that would be equally as beneficial, but with less impact on her joints. She wanted to find something that also improved her posture, strengthened her core, and could keep her feeling strong.

As a classically trained dancer, Karen had heard about the benefits of Pilates, and knew that professional dancers used Pilates for strength training - and that it kept them long, and strong for their art. Karen decided to give it a try, and she was hooked! Even better, when her husband noticed that her body changed for the better, she kept on practicing! Karen has now been practicing Pilates for nearly 15 years!

Karen has had a lifelong career in the health field. She has been a CNA, a massage therapist, and is currently a dental hygenist. She decided to take the leap and become a Pilates Instructor, since her passion for health, anatomy & physiology, and fitness was such an intregal part of her life. Karen has completed her comprehensive Pilates teacher training, and she enjoys working with clients of all ages. However, she feels that she is best suited for clients over 50 - since she has personally felt the benefits that Pilates has brought to her life.

In her spare time, Karen loves to cook, read, and spend time with her 3 beautiful grandaughters!
